I Won A Twitter Prize Basket!

Who hasn't heard of Twitter?  Like everyone has, right?  I jumped on the bandwagon a couple of years ago and have been tweeting away since.  Once I accidentally joined in on a Twitter chat party because I saw a #hashtag that caught my attention and I replied.  Don't remember what it was about but 30 minutes later or so I was thanked for joining the chat party.  Huh? Well I soon caught on have participated in a few here and there.  I try not to do too many because I know it can drive followers crazy so when I do a Twitter party I try to stick to replies only.

Anywho, I joined in on a chat party this past December when one of my friends (Hi, Teresa!) replied with the hashtag #LatinaHolidayBeauty.  Of course that caught my attention so I looked at the feed and I joined the other gals.  It was a chat about all things beauty and sharing each others tips.  It was fun and I enjoyed it.  :)

Well at the end of the chat party I received this tweet from Latina Magazine.

Shoot yeah I messaged them my information and within a few weeks I came home to a brown box sitting at my door step.  And inside was a basket full of beauty products and some great ones too!

Oh I was so giddy when I opened up the box and started looking at all the products.  I'm telling ya, I was like a little girl on Christmas morning.  What is it about getting a rush when you win something?  Big or small we all get excited just to win something.  I mean look at all those folks trying to catch a free t-shirt (that they would never pay for) at sporting events?  It's just fun.  But even more fun when you get beauty products.  Well in my opinion.  :)

Here's a break down of what was in my beauty basket.
-Two full size bottles of Pantene's Classic shampoo & conditioner.

-Aquis wash cloth, an Ecotools shower mitt, a loof sponge and a full size bottle of Olay body wash.

-A Venus disposable razor (yes!), some CoverGirl nail files and a CVS nail kit.

-And last but not least: CoverGirl eyeshadow quad, two CG eyeliners, two CG Lash Blast mascaras and an Ecotools makeup brush set.

Aaaaaagggh!  Lemme tell you that the Lash Blast mascara is one of my favorites.  And I got two of them!  It is an awesome mascara and if you've never it used then I highly recommend you buy yourself one.  Your eyelashes will look fab!  And I currently own other Ecotools makeup brushes and I am quite happy with them so I was ecstatic to get these brushes and try them out.

Oh and I can't forget to mention the basket that has already come in handy.  So yeah I am pretty much a girly girl and I love all things beauty so winning this prize made my day.  Even my baby girl oohed and ahhed as I opened the box.  She was excited for her mommy because she knows how much I love makeup.

I think I will stick to Twitter chat parties and see what else I can score.  Hasta! :)

Organizing da Hair Accessories

Before my daughter was born it was just the hubby, our boy and me.  I only had me to worry about when it came to all things hair.  Then baby girl came along and little by little the hair accessories, combs, brushes and everything else started to pile up and take over my middle bathroom drawer.  Up until a couple of weeks ago my hair accessory drawer looked like this:

It was so bad and I couldn't stand it any longer.  Actually it had been quite some time that I could not stand but I finally got around to organizing it.  While still on holiday vacation in early January, the kids and I took a field trip to The Container Store.  One of my new favorite stores.  Love!

After browsing, browsing, browsing and more browsing I finally got down to business.  Mainly because the kids were getting restless otherwise I could have spent the whole day there and compiled a huge wish list.  I came home with some Linus drawer organizers and after a major make-over our hair accessories bathroom drawer looked like this:

I can't believe how much better it looks and my baby girl kept looking at it and just wanted to stand there and admire it.  She loved it so much and was excited to get her hair did every morning.  :)

This is how I started off this organizing mission.  I measured the drawer so that I would know how much space I had to work with while I shopped for the organizers.

It was a little overwhelming to see all of my choices at The Container Store.

But thankfully I had my measurements so I put some bins together and came up with this design to go in my drawer.  Bad shot, sorry.

I bought a 4-section bin, two small ones, one large one and came home to start the organizing.

This is what it looked like after try numero uno.

On the top left I used the 4-section bin and below that I used two 3"x6" bins and to the right I used a 6"x15" bin.  I had a couple of inches left at the very front so I put my daughter's hair detangler and water bottle in that spot.  It was almost perfect.  After having it like this for a few days I realized that I didn't like that big bin on the right with ponytail holders and hairbands.  I also didn't like that I had bobby pins and hair clips grouped together in one (4-section bin).

So back to The Container Store I went and bought two 3"x2" bins, one 6"x9" bin and one more 3"x6" bin.  I rearranged a bit and this was the final look.  I was much happier with this set up and it worked better.  No mixing up bobby pins with hair clips or hair bands with elastics.

Oh and see that water label on the Suave bottle up above?  Well that was a detangler that I bought a while back but I did not like it too much.  So I watered it down as I used it and once it once completely empty I used it as just a spray water bottle.  That was the first label I made after I bought my label maker that I mentioned in my last post.  And the white bottle to the left of it is a detangler I'm using now but I'm not too crazy about it either.  I was on a mission to organize all these hair products but I'm also on a mission to find the perfect detangler for my girl's beautiful hair.  Suggestions welcome.  :)

So don't ya think this looks mucho mucho better?  Not only was my girl giddy after the much needed makeover but so was I.  Both of our hair accessories are no longer lost and there is a compartment for each different one.  Well her hair bows are on in her room but that's about it.  I'm so happy with how it turned out.  On to the next project!  :)

M.I.A. Blogger And A Label Maker!

Hola beautiful people!  I am back and hopefully on a more regular basis.  These past November through February months (now) have had me so busy that honestly I was just too drained to share anything.  I have also been too busy to craft, DIY or whip up anything in the kitchen to share with you all.  Well I did make my daughter a Barbie cake for her birthday a couple of weeks ago but my photos came out un-Pinterest worthy.  Womp, womp.

It actually makes me a little sad (lack of posts) especially since there are some folks that read my blog and ask me when I'm going to have another post.  I'm like genuinely excited when someone asks me about a new post because I didn't think many people read my blog except for me, me and my sweet co-worker, Tabitha.  Hi, Tabitha!  :)

But since I'm back I am thinking of some posts to share with you all and to start off my little come back, I'll share with you all my January Costco find.  A label maker!  Woot!

I guess to kick-off the organizing month, Costco was stocked up on an array of organizing items including this Brother P-touch PT-1880c label maker.  If memory serves me right, I think I paid about $32 or so for the label maker, two cartridges and the batteries.  I thought this was a pretty good deal and I have been wanting and needing one of these babies for a very long time.

Not long after I got home I busted it open the package and got to making my first label.  The first word did not come out so great and I guess that is because it was the start of the tape.  I printed two more "WATER" words so that I could use on an organizing project that I had started at the same time.  The only downfall to this label maker (which I already knew about) is how much tape is wasted in between start and end.  Too much space is allotted and the only way to cut down on that is to type all of your desired words in one sitting and space out as you desire.  See my example below.  grrrrrr.

I'll show you all in my next post why I printed out a water label.  Until then have a good week and I hope to see y'all on the flip side (whatever that means).  Ta ta!

Glass Vase Snowman Decor {Craft DIY}

Hello peeps!  Who is still stuffed from all of the Thanksgiving deliciousness?  Or broke from those fab after-Thanksgiving sales?  I don't do the whole crazy shopping thing but I am stuffed and happy.  I got to watch lots of t.v. and in my jammies.  Woot!

On to my latest project, except I made this last year so I'm kinda lying.  I never got to share this with you guys because of lots of computer problems.  Anywho, I made a snowman using two floral vases.

I was inspired to make this snowman after I saw another blogger make with decor with round floral vases.  She used different glitter for each vase and then topped each one with a witch hat.  It was classy and cute.  And darn.  I wish I could remember that blogger and her site.

Well here is how I got down to business when making this snowman.

Supplies:

2 - round floral vases
1 - sponge brush
Mod Podge
1 - small jar of white glitter
2 - sheets black felt w/glitter
scissors
craft or felt glue
2 - lids from food canisters (like oatmeal)

And just so we're clear, you need two vases for this fella.  :)

First, you pour a little of the Mod Podge into the vase and quickly begin to spread it around with the foam brush.  Add more if you need to as you go along but whatever you DON'T pour too much all at once.  Ahem, I speak from experience.

Now forgive me but I don't have anymore pictures of this process.  I had to work quickly before the Mod Podge (MP) dried too much.  So basically what I did was pour the MP, coat the vase with it using a foam brush and then I poured in some glitter.  Holding the vase with my hands and on it's side, I tapped and turned the vase around to move the glitter around and have it grab on to the MP.

I used about half the jar of glitter for both vases.  Oh and be sure to completely coat the vase with MP.  Leaving gaps or even small streaks will not give it a good look once the glitter is set and dried on to the MP.  My test vase looked like this.  Again, no pics.  Sorry.  :)

While the MP and glitter dried, I made the snowman's top hat.  I cut the black glittered felt sheet lengthwise at 3 inches.

I then glued the ends together with the craft glue.  I also used the different size canister lids to make the bottom and top of the hat.

I wanted the bottom of the hat to be slightly bigger than the opening of the vase.

Once I had those two coverings cut out I put the hat together.  I did not glue them together mainly because I did not think it would work and because I wanted to be able to put it all away easily once the holidays are over.

Basically, I just stacked everything on top of each other.  The two vases and the hat parts.  Again, I want to be able to put it away properly when it's time.

Ah but I did find some red ribbon and glue that on the hat part.

I was going to add a face to my snowman but in the end I liked it better like this.  Simple, pretty and classy.  That's been my motto lately.  :)

Oh and before I forget, I bought all of my supplies at Hobby Lobby.  The vases were on sale for half off and I used a coupon for the Mod Podge and glitter.  Y'all like my snowman?  :)

My Favorite Night Time App

Hey everybody!  I hope all my fellow Americans went out and rocked their vote today.  I'm so glad all this election bizness is almost over and done with and we can happily move on to the next mudslinging event.  (insert sarcasm)

Anywho, lots of my Facebook friends are saying what they are thankful for each day and today I thought I would let you all know that I'm thankful for the Ambiance app on my iPhone and iPad.  The best white noise app in my opinion.  And it's free!

And my favorite sound selection on Ambiance is Rain and Thunder in the Rain category.  It soothes me and my kiddies to sleep and there have been mornings when I wake up thinking that it actually rained the night before.  :)

Oh how I have loved white noise since the days we brought my son home from the hospital.  I quickly realized the importance of white noise and finally "got it" after hearing people talk about it here and there.  Oh yes siree Bob is white noise a necessity in my home.  The kids fall asleep faster and much easier with a little background noise.

Every night when I tuck the kids into bed, I have the iPad in hand and they tell me which sound they want for the night.  Sometimes it's an ocean sound and sometimes it's a rain sound.  So far this is what they like and we have not gone past these two sounds.  Although the app has 27 different sound categories (free) to choose from and then they have their premium sounds which cost $0.99 each.  They even have an Animal sound category.  Grunting pigs or howling monkeys, anyone?  Yes, those are real sound selections.

Another favorite feature about this app is that it has a timer.  I remember when it didn't have a timer and it would drain my battery dry.  Now I get to choose a timer when I tuck the kids into bed or when I tuck myself into bed.  Yes, every now and then I need this app to help me fall asleep.  There are nights when I have too much on my mind and I need help getting some zzzzz's.

Anyone else love this app as much as my kids and I do?  May you all have a restful night tonight.  I suggest using this app if you need help.  :)
